- Construction costs totaled 205 million DM, or 105 million EUR
- The architectural trio of Jörg Joppien, Albert Dietz, and Annette Maud-Joppien designed and built the arena
- The project was initiated in connection with Berlin’s bid for the 2000 Olympic Games (Olympia Sportstättenbauten GmbH)
