Life on land
SDG 15 – life on land demands the protection, restoration and promotion of a sustainable use of the terrestrial ecosystems, the sustainable management of forests, the combating of desertification, and the halting and reversal of land degradation and biodiversity loss.

Cooperation with a local beekeeper who has installed several bee colonies on the living roof of the Max-Schmeling-Halle

"Gute" sheep (Swedish sheep landrace) graze on the green spaces from spring to autumn and largely replace the ordinary landscape maintenance methods with motorised mowers; they are eco-friendly and do not kill insects

For smaller bird species, "Morgenvogel" bird houses have been attached to the trees in the grounds of the Max-Schmeling-Halle; they guarantee safe nesting places for these species and protect them from falling prey to their larger fellow birds and other animals

Transparent bird window stickers have been attached to the glass and window panes in the management area to provide visible obstacles to birds in flight and to thereby prevent accidental collisions

Regular participation in special biodiversit promotion projects (e.g. NABU campaign promoting the planting of natural shrubs)
